Plot Summary: New Yorker Harvey Shine (Dustin Hoffman) is on the verge of losing his dead-end job as a jingle writer. Warned by his boss (Richard Schiff) that he has just one more chance to deliver, Harvey goes to London for a weekend to attend his daughter’s (Liane Balaban) wedding but promises to be back on Monday morning to make an important meeting—or else.

Harvey arrives in London only to learn his daughter has chosen to have her stepfather (James Brolin) walk her down the aisle instead of him. Doing his best to hide his devastation, he leaves the wedding before the reception in hopes of getting to the airport on time, but misses his plane anyway. When he calls his boss to explain, he is fired on the spot.

Drowning his sorrows at the airport bar, Harvey strikes up a conversation with Kate (Emma Thompson), a slightly prickly, 40-something employee of the Office of National Statistics. Kate, whose life is limited to work, the occasional humiliating blind date and endless phone calls from her smothering mother (Eileen Atkins), is touched by Harvey, who finds himself energized by her intelligence and compassion.

The growing connection between the pair inspires both as they unexpectedly transform one another’s lives.

Set in a visually dazzling fantasy of 1930s New York, "Dark Streets" tells the story of Chaz Davenport (Gabriel Mann), a dashing playboy who owns what promises to become the hottest new nightclub in town—if only the lights would stay on. Surrounded by the sumptuous blues music he adores, and with his pick of the gorgeous women who perform their sensual dance numbers on stage every night, Chaz is the envy of every man.

But with the city thrown into darkness by frequent blackouts and a menacing loan shark closing in, Chaz is in danger of losing the club—and far more. Plot Summary: Adapted from Will Eisner's comic book series, "The Spirit" is a classic action-adventure-romance genre-twister written for the screen and directed by Frank Miller (creator of "300" and "Sin City"). Leos Carax's first new film since 1999's "Pola X," "Merde" is a kinetic, sharp-edged return. Eventually arrested, he's put on trial and defended by a mysterious French lawyer who somehow speaks the same strange language.

Bong Joon-ho's "Shaking Tokyo" tells of a man who self-describes as a hikikomori – one who refuses to leave his apartment. Amidst towers of books and empty take-out containers, his hermetic world is disrupted when, during the shudders of an earthquake, an attractive pizza deliverywoman collapses in his doorway.
